In addition to traditional Shophouses, there are also within the Emerald Hill Estate a number of Terrace Houses. These residences have been designed to include open-air front courtyards.

These courtyards are part of the private living space of the Terrace House. In those with larger front courtyards there may also be space for the parking of vehicles and landscaped areas.

External Front Courtyards

GENERAL INFORMATION FOR OWNERS & RESIDENTS

  • Though these courtyards are considered as part of a private residence, they are governed by the Singapore government residential noise level provisions of a Quiet zone period from 10;30pm to 7:00am daily.

  • As part of URA’s conservation guidelines all front exteriors of the residence are under the purview of URA Conservation and any addition of permanent structures and or painting of the exterior surfaces within the courtyard area are governed by URA’s guidelines. In Emerald Hill the acceptable paint colours are gazetted.

  • As open Front Courtyards are in close proximity to neighbouring residences, courtesy as to bright lights and uses such as outdoor cooking are requested to be undertaken in considerations of neighbouring units.
